Sherilyn attended Baylor University for three years before transferring to the Ohio State University where she received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Speech/Language Pathology.
She is certified by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
Sherilyn worked for Primary Children’s Medical Center (Utah) and Children’s Specialized Hospital (NJ) prior to working in the Somerset Hills School District in NJ for the past 18 years. She recently relocated to Massachusetts with her husband and has opened a private clinic.
She has a particular interest in preschoolers and has worked with a wide variety of articulation and language delays and disorders. She has experience working with children exhibiting fluency disorders, selective mutism, and social/pragmatic language disorders as well. She enjoys working with children and their families to facilitate communication skills.
Although her area of expertise is in speech and language development, Sherilyn possesses a comprehensive knowledge of early childhood development. For example, she was trained in behavior modification and would help brainstorm and develop behavior plans with me. Sherilyn showed good insight into her students’ abilities and keenly used his/her strengths to help develop other areas needing improvement. She was patient and caring in her actions toward all the students in the classroom.
